HostPapa Review

HostPapa Green HostingGoing green is a great choice for our world because of global warming. There are many ways that we could help our planet slowly recover from the abuse for the many years that we have been polluting it. Now, we are suffering the consequence of that abuse through climate change and global warming. If we keep up with our ways, the future generations would be in a lot of danger.

HostPapa, is a web hosting company that is committed not just to give excellent web hosting but also committed to help save our world. We only have 1 planet and it makes a lot of sense for us to go hand in hand and try to help save it. We need to do our part with this common problem and HostPapa is doing their part.

HostPapa is one of the pioneers for green web hosting. They are promoting the use of solar and wind energy by purchasing 100% green energy tags for green energy that offsets the energy they use to power up their offices and data centers.

HostPapa Pros

HostPapa provides 100% green energy via green energy tags to help save the environment. They partnered with some of the leading traffic sources such as Google, Facebook, Amazon, Yahoo!, and Bing, to get you access to extended free marketing credits.

HostPapa Issues

The advertised pricing on their site is for 3 years prepay with only a 30-day money back guarantee on those plans.

The Hosting Plans Review

HostPapa offers a single shared web hosting plan that offers unlimited everything including storage, domains hosted, 1-click script installs, free setup and free site migration if needed. Their current rates confirmed in the order process are:

  • 12 Months: $5.95/mo or $71.40.
  • 24 Months: $4.95/mo or $118.80
  • 36 Months: 3.95/mo or $142.20

The only upsell we notice is a $14.95/year site protection service from SiteLock. Considering we’ve seen hosts offer up to 10 upsells, this is refreshing to see.

Need Windows Hosting? You can go with their VPS Plans that offers both Linux and Windows as options. They currently have 3 plans for both operating systems that should suit your needs. If you plan on selling hosting space to clients, they also offer a reseller hosting plan with 5 options to choose from.

Customer Support Review

You can easily find answers from their Knowledgebase or watch the video tutorials to make it easier for you to install on your own. If you are still having problems and want to get in touch with their customer support team then you can just send them a chat message from their website, call their toll-fee number or simply submit them a ticket.

Their technical support department advertises that they are multilingual in four languages including English, Fresh, Spanish and German. For those newer to web hosting, they offer a large variety of training videos and webinars to help you along your way. You’ll enjoy access to live updates and system status updates should you notice a problem with your website loading. Lastly, they have a comprehensive knowledgebase with answers, support docs, tips and more.

HostPapa web hosting also has a Facebook account, Twitter, Google Plus and a YouTube page so you could get better insights on their products, updates and even have some interaction with their team.

Ease of Use & Quality

cPanel is an easy to use control panel that even those who are new to web designing would find it a breeze to control their site. They also have a software you can use for site building and it’s absolutely yours for free. With this software you don’t need to build your site from scratch as it will do this for you. If you are unsure of what to do next or you executed an installation or messed up an application and can’t find your way out of it, they have their technical support team that can help you through the procedure so you can get back on track once again. At first it would be a little bit slow for new web designers but in just a short while you’d already get the hang of it.

For the last couple of months they have been having load issues, my box has been timing out just trying to do emails. It is getting to the point we are looking for another hosting company. – problem is every time I contact them that tell me it is my network, funny though because it is only Hostpapa that is lagging. I guess my network does not like Hostpaps network.

I left GoDaddy for Hostpapa and it was a BRUTAL experience!! took me 3 weeks to get my site back up and no thanks to hostpapa. I had to use my website provider (which i dont know personally) and give them my password to hostpapa since i had zero support from them. My website provider was glad to help me out and got me up in 45 hrs. Hostpapa is crap crap crap. takes for EVER to get an answer back from them and they beat around the bush. very difficult to use and i am leaving them as soon as my “contract” is up. NEVER recommend these guys to anyone!!!!

I have nothing to say good about HostPapa, you can see the thousands of complaints on the web. I trust this host, I really regret that choice, I would have known ever taken this host. HostPapa is not expensive and is not worth much. I work more than two years to design website for my clients, I received complaints from these, my clients tell me that their site was idle almost always, I’m checking my clients were right Over 17 websites were down.

I contacted the customer service, according to HostPapa I was the problem, site were poorly constructed! I tell HostPapa, it is impossible it makes for over 20 years that I makes siteweb. Two days later this host told me that my sites were Hacked, again this was not true, my website were clean. HostPapa told me that I should delete all sites, more than 17 WebSite. HostPapa to delete all my sites, all sites, my clients were really angry.

I had to pay over $ 20,000 I had done backup before HostPapa removes my sites, the backup does not work well, hundreds of files were not copied. A week later, I see on the web that HostPapa was hack by pirates Palestine. I managed to communicate with the pirates on Twitter, (hackers had claimed the attack) HostPapa had blocked the website belonging to Palestine. HostPapa blocking all websites of Palestine. Well, it does not concern me! but one thing I lost over $ 75,000 and it’s the fault of HostPapa HostPapa and no excuse, instead it is always the fault to their customers. KEEP YOU VERY FAR FROM HOST THIS AS YOU LOSE MUCH MONEY RISKY AND MOST OF TIME.

My experience with the hostpapa support team on my reseller account has been SHOCKING!!
They have been struggling for 7 days to sort out my name servers.

I will NOT recommend them to anyone!!

    Scott Buehler - May 6, 2015

Paul-Grant, what types of problems with the name servers are you having? Is your domain registered at HostPapa or elsewhere?

Andrew - May 13, 2015

HostPapa is the worst company for web hosting that exists. Period.

Rares - May 25, 2015

Would NOT RECOMMEND HostPapa. HostPapa is SLOW, support is POOR (their solution to improve pure PHP performance was: “Further, you can add script inorder to increase the php server performance at your end.”) and they are not cheap either.

HOST PAPA Suspended our account as they claim we have too many emails – we run a publishing company. Apparently their “Unlimited” is actually “limited”.

In the end they Suspended our account without forewarning – and sent an email 30 minutes later.

Thus – no email – no website after we just launched a new book.

Its been three days – I’ve called at least 20 times, had at least 10 online chats, and sent emails, I’ve tweeted, facebooked etc… but they are not doing anything about it… again – I’m told by a calm voiced person that I just gotta wait…

They’ve put my company in the shit for 3 days – and I’m still waiting.

Sad incompetent company.
Dont go near them!
